SUBSEQUENT STARTING PROCEDURE
Once the optimum needle-valve setting has been established
(see page 19, Needle-valve adjustment diagram)
the procedure for starting may be simplified as
follows.
Open the needle-valve one half-turn (180°) from
the optimum setting.
Set the throttle one-quarter open from the fully
closed position, energize the glowplug and apply
the electric starter. When the engine starts, reopen
the throttle and re-adjust the needle-valve to
the optimum setting.
When re-starting the engine on the same day,
provided that atmospheric conditions have not
changed significantly, it may be practicable to restart
the engine on its optimum(running) setting.

当主油针的理想位置调整到位以后,按照以下方法进行启动:
1 从理想位置开始,把主油针旋出半圈(180°)
2 把风门从全闭位置打开一格(译注:按经验启动发动机时风门可以开到怠速位置。而本说明书所指的位置是从全闭位置开1/4。这个1/4是指整个风门摇臂的活动范围,从全闭位置开始的1/4,按说明书示意图大概是风门摇臂与化油器进气口平行的方向),加上点火电,使用启动机启动。当发动机启动起来以后,再逐步打开风门和把主油针调节到理想位置。
注:在同一天启动发动机的时候,如果空气条件没有明显变化,发动机的油针位置可以不用改动。
SUBSEQUENT READJUSTMENT
Once the engine has been run-in and the controls
properly set up, it should be unnecessary to alter the
mixture settings; except to make minor adjustments
to the Needle-Valve occasionally, to take account of
variations in climatic conditions.
The use of a different fuel, however, particularly one
containing more, or less, nitromethane and/or a
different type or proportion of lubricating oil, is likely to
call for some readjustment of the Needle-Valve.
Remember that, as a safety measure, it is advisable
to increase the Needle-Valve opening by an extra
half-turn counter-clockwise, prior to establishing a
new setting. The same applies if the silencer type is
changed.
A different silencer may alter the exhaust pressure
applied to the fuel feed and call for a revised Needle-
Valve setting. The use of a different glowplug may
also require compensating carburetor readjustments.
后续调整:
当发动机磨合并且控制正常,油针设置就不需要改动了。最多偶尔因为气候变化改变一下主油针设置。
当然,改用不同的油料,配方改变,也需要重新调整主油针。
请记住,为了安全起见,进行新调整之前,应该先把主油针多开半圈。使用新的消音器(排气管)也应重新调整主油针。
不同的消音器会改变排气对油箱的冲压,从而导致主油针位置的改变。使用不同的热火头也需要重新进行化油器调整。
CARBURETOR CLEANLINESS
The correct functioning of the carburetor depends on
its small fuel orifices remaining clear. The minute
particles of foreign matter that are present in any fuel,
can easily partially obstruct these orifices and upset
mixture strength so that engine performance
becomes erratic and unreliable.
O.S.'Super-Filters'(large and small ) are available, as
optional extras, to deal with this problem.
One of these filters, fitted to the outlet tube inside
your refueling container, will prevent the entry of
foreign material into the fuel tank.
It is also recommended that a good in-line filter be
installed between the tank and needle-valve.
Do not forget to clean the filters regularly to remove
dirt and lint that accumulate on the filter screen.
Also, clean the carburetor itself occasionally.
化油器的清洁:
化油器的清洁要看其细小的喷油孔是否干净。任何存在于油料中的外来杂质很容易堵塞喷油孔,导致发动机输出不稳定,不可靠。
OS super-filiters(大小型号都有)可以用来解决这个问题,是可选配件。
可在你的储油容器的出油口处放一个油滤,防止外来杂质进入发动机的油箱。
建议在发动机油箱和主油针之间装一个油滤。
不要忘记定期清理油滤,把滤网表面积累的杂质去掉。
当然也要不时清理化油器本身。
ENGINE CARE AND MAINTENANCE
At the end of each operating session, drain out any
fuel that may remain in the fuel tank.
Next, energize the glowplug and try to restart the
engine to burn off any fuel that may remain inside
the engine. Repeat this procedure until the engine
fails to fire. Remove the glowplug and eject any residue
by rotating the engine with an electric starter
for 4 to 5 seconds while the engine is still warm.
Finally, inject some after-run oil into the engine.
Rotate the engine a few times by hand, to make
sure that it is free, and then with an electric starter
for 4 to 5 seconds to distribute the oil to all the
working parts.
Do not inject after-run oil into the carburetor as
this may cause the O-ring inside the carburettor
to deteriorate.
These procedures will reduce the risk of starting
difficulties and of internal corrosion after a period of
storage.
发动机的保养维护:
1 每次使用结束后,要把油箱内的剩余油料抽出来。
2 然后加上点火电,尝试启动发动机,把发动机内的余油燃烧干净。重复启动,直到发动机没法启动。去掉点火电,趁热用电启动机带着发动机运转4-5秒。
3 最后,把少量用过的油料打入发动机,用手旋转几下,再用启动机带着转上4-5秒,让油到达发动机内部各个工作部件。
(译注:该说明书建议的磨车方法有点变速磨车的意思,意在使活塞和汽缸处于同冷同热的工作环境,利于活塞与汽缸壁更好的接触,达到较好的磨合效果。)
